MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Sunday, November 2, warned the public of a possible cyberattack in the form of a “traffic flood.”

In a Facebook post, the DICT said a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack may occur on November 5, potentially making websites and online services unavailable to users.

“Dahil dito, pwedeng bumagal o hindi agad mag-load ang ilang websites o apps,” the DICT said.

(Because of this, some websites or apps may slow down or fail to load immediately.)

DDoS attacks overwhelm a target server with massive internet traffic from multiple compromised systems, making websites, apps, or online services unavailable to users.

The DICT clarified that such attacks will not steal personal accounts, data, or money. The agency is coordinating with national security agencies and international partners to monitor potential threats and strengthen the country’s cyber resilience.
