LIVE: House briefing on 2026 budget
MANILA, Philippines — The House Committee on Appropriations has started the hearing on the proposed P6.793-trillion 2026 national budget on Monday, August 18.
The panel, chaired by Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing (Nueva Ecija, 1st District), will be briefed by members of the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) on the country’s economic situation and the macroeconomic assumptions behind the administration’s 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
These include:
- Department of Budget and Management (DBM)
- Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev)
- Department of Finance (DOF)
- Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)
The briefing will be led by Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan Jr., Finance Secretary Ralph Recto and BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr.
In his budget message, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his administration allocated P621 million to the DBM to integrate public financial management processes and streamline government transactions through the Integrated Financial Management Information System, as mandated by Executive Order No. 29, s. 2023.
