MANILA, Philippines —  West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. invested P25.75 billion for infrastructure projects last year to enhance water and wastewater services in its jurisdiction.

The company spent P7 billion to improve the sewerage system, including the construction and upgrade of wastewater facilities such as the Caloocan Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Las Piñas WRF.

The water utility firm added that it also upgraded seven wastewater treatment facilities in Muntinlupa, Pasay, Quezon City and Manila.

Meanwhile, about P6 billion went to Maynilad’s non-revenue water reduction program that involved the replacement of 142 kilometers of aging pipes in 2024.

“This initiative led to the recovery of 158 million liters of water per day, improving distribution efficiency and reducing water losses,” Maynilad said.

Meanwhile, Maynilad invested P6.5 billion for the improvement of its water service reliability in the West Zone through the construction and rehabilitation of key water facilities. These projects include the Poblacion water treatment plant in Muntinlupa and the Parada pumping station in Valenzuela.

Furthermore, the company said it expanded its pipeline network across its concession area, including laying pipelines in Morong, Rizal, in preparation for future water supply from Kaliwa Dam.

Maynilad also spent P4.4 billion for the development of small-scale water treatment facilities that tap alternative sources such as dams and rivers in Cavite province, ensuring a more resilient water supply.

The company also allocated a portion of its total investments last year for the enhancement of its customer service and information programs that focused on upgrading digital communication channels and improving service responsiveness.

“These infrastructure investments reflect our commitment to delivering safe and reliable water services while ensuring long-term sustainability amid growing demand and climate challenges,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez.

“We remain focused on strengthening our operations and expanding access to clean water and sanitation for our customers,” he added.
