DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The religious group of Apollo Quiboloy is offering a P20-million reward to anyone who can provide information on those wanting to capture and harm the fugitive pastor.

Carlo Catiil, Kingdom of Jesus Christ minister, said that while the government is offering a P10-million reward for information on Quiboloy’s whereabouts, their group is doubling the amount for any information on who wants to harm the pastor and five of his co-accused, including Paulene Canada, who was arrested in Davao; Cresente Canada, Ingrid Canada, Jackielyn Roy and Sylvia Cemanes who remain at large.

The initial reward was offered by anonymous donors who were dissatisfied with the justice system’s slow progress in apprehending Quiboloy.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos earlier urged Quiboloy to surrender and face the court, saying the religious leader is still in the country.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Marbil warned that anyone aiding Quiboloy’s evasion could face obstruction of justice charges.

Quiboloy is the spiritual adviser of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The pastor went into hiding after the Davao City Regional Trial Court issued arrest warrants on him and his co-accused on child and sexual abuse and human trafficking cases – which are non-bailable – issued by a Pasig City court.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said they have been receiving tips from informants after the P10-million bounty was put up for Quiboloy’s arrest – with P1 million each for his remaining four co-accused – and remains confident that the fugitive pastor would be found soon.

“Hopefully in the coming days, if not weeks, there will be a positive development in the hunt for pastor Quiboloy and his co-accused,” Fajardo said. — Emmanuel Tupas
