MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs has placed New Caledonia under Crisis Alert Level 2 (Restriction Phase) due to the announcement of a state of emergency in the territory.
“Filipinos living in New Caledonia are advised to remain vigilant, avoid public places, and restrict non-essential movement. Filipinos are also advised to monitor and follow guidelines set by local authorities,” the department said yesterday.
There are approximately 200 Filipinos and Filipinos by descent living in the French territory.
