Go welcomes PDP endorsement

MANILA, Philippines —  With the formal endorsement of his re-election bid by Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), Sen. Bong Go has vowed to remain committed to improving the lives of Filipinos.

Go said he is grateful to PDP chairman and former president Rodrigo Duterte as well as to his party-mates for backing his bid for re-election in 2025. Go got the third highest number of votes in the 2019 senatorial elections.

“I know it’s a bit too early to talk about the election. However, just now I am grateful to our party chairman, former president Duterte, and our party members for their continued support and trust in my ability to serve the people,” he said.

The PDP’s senatorial lineup for the 2025 polls includes names that represent as much as possible all the regions in the Philippines.

It includes incumbent senators Ronald dela Rosa and Francis Tolentino and actor Philip Salvador.

“Ever since, the PDP has adhered to one goal, which is to serve the people and uplift the lives of every Filipino. As member and servant, and whatever happens in politics, I will continue to serve to the best of my ability because it is my habit to serve and I believe that service to people is service to God,” the senator said.

“So for now, I will prioritize my sworn duty as a senator. Politics later, work first. We will continue to help those in need, care for the people and support our President and Vice President. I call for unity for the welfare and well-being of every Filipino, especially the poor, whom we serve,” Go added.

“My faith in our party’s ideals and my commitment to help in their realization for the welfare of our people remain strong. I believe in democracy. That is why I continue to fight for, protect and preserve the democratic values of our country,” Go added.

Go was the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Center program that has helped millions of Filipinos nationwide.

He also explained that removing “Laban” from the party’s official name was part of the party’s adjustments to changing political realities.
