MANILA, Philippines — The Senate sergeant-at-arms has sought assistance from the Police Regional Office 11 in Davao in implementing the warrant issued by the upper chamber for the arrest of Apollo Quiboloy, the self-proclaimed son of God.

Quiboloy’s arrest is for contempt for repeatedly refusing to attend the hearings into sexual abuses allegedly committed by the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Maj. Catherine dela Rey, spokesperson for PRO 11, told The STAR that they received the letter from the Senate sergeant-at-arms on March 28 requesting for police assistance.

Dela Rey, however, said police have yet to receive a copy of the warrant of arrest issued against Quiboloy.

“We are ready to assist the Senate any time,” Dela Rey said.

Aside from the contempt case, Quiboloy is also facing criminal charges before trial courts in Davao City and Pasig for alleged sexual abuses and human trafficking.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros, whose committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality conducted an investigation into Quiboloy’s alleged sexual abuses, refused to comment on the matter so as not to jeopardize the Senate sergeant-at-arms’ next moves.
