PSA opens PhilSys registration for ages 1 to 4

MANILA, Philippines — Children ages one to four years old can now register with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for the national ID.

In a statement, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said the rollout of this service is part of its efforts to get more Filipinos to register with the PhilSys, including minors.

To register, a parent or guardian who is already PhilSys-registered will need to be present.

The child’s PhilSys number or permanent identification number will be linked to the accompanying parent or guardian.

For the registration, the PSA said the accompanying parent or guardian will need to present supporting documents to validate the child’s demographic information.

Any of the following supporting documents may be presented: certificate of live birth issued by the PSA or the Local Civil Registry Office; report of birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post; certificate of foundling issued by the PSA, and certificate of foundling or certificate of live birth or persons with no known parent/s issued by the PSA.

Parents or guardians may also present the child’s municipal form 102; Philippine passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs; or any document showing the full name of the child, date and place of birth, the full name of the mother and the full name of the father, if acknowledged.

Upon validation of demographic information, a front-facing photograph of the child will be taken.

Other biometric information including the fingerprints, iris scan and the updated front-facing photograph will be captured after the child reaches the age of five.

“We encourage parents and guardians to join us in taking the step towards a new Philippines for the next generation by registering their children ages one to four to PhilSys,” PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa said.

The PSA said PhilSys registration activities continue to be implemented across the country.

Registration centers remain open to walk-in registrations, while mobile registration activities are also being conducted for those residing in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas or have no means to visit any registration centers.
