March 11 not a holiday – Palace
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has clarified that Monday, March 11, is not a holiday.
In a Facebook post on Thursday night, the Official Gazette, the official publication of the government, said the circulating document titled “Proclamation No. 729” is “spurious.”
The fake document alleged that March 11 is a nationwide regular holiday in celebration of Eid’l Fitr.
“The circulating document labeled ‘Proclamation No. 729,’ which purportedly declares Monday, March 11, 2024, as a nationwide regular holiday in celebration of Eid’l Fitr, is spurious,” it said.
It was a “tampered” version of Proclamation 729 issued in 2019 by then executive secretary Salvador Medialdea, the Official Gazette said.
March 10, Sunday, marks the start of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting which ends with Eid’l Fitr, the traditional holiday.
