MANILA, Philippines — The number of reported deaths from the onslaught of Typhoon Karding (Noru) has risen to 10, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Wednesday.
According to NDRRMC, Karding has left six people in Bulacan, two in Zambales, one in Quezon province, and one in Rizal dead. Causes of death include drowning, motorcycle incident, and landslide.

Eight persons were also reported missing in Rizal, Quezon province, and Camarines Norte.
The agency said the numbers of dead and missing individuals are still up for verification.
In its latest report, NDRRMC said 29,893 families or 157,023 people have been affected by Karding in Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
A total of 8,825 families remained inside evacuation centers, while 3,778 households continued to stay in the homes of their relatives and friends.
Karding, the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year, unleashed heavy rains and strong winds that triggered landslides and flooding, and damaged crops.
According to NDRRMC, 2,640 farmers and fisherfolk from Ilocos region, Bicol region, and CAR were affected by Karding. Some 4,469.716 hectares of agricultural land were also affected.
The running tally on agricultural damage from Karding has reached P108.8 million. Volume of production loss was pegged 3,766.83 metric tons.
The figures do not include data from the heavily agricultural region of Central Luzon.
NDRRMC also reported the cost of damage to infrastructure in Ilocos region, Mimaropa, and CAR was estimated at P23.05 million.
