MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine after the United States warned of a possible Russian invasion.

In a statement, the DFA said that the Philippine embassy in Warsaw, Poland is reaching out to Filipinos in the Eastern European country in coordination with the Philippine honorary consulate in Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

There are approximately 380 Filipinos in Ukraine, the DFA said.

It encouraged Filipinos to “contact the embassy, report any untoward incident they might observe in their respective areas and continue monitoring their Filipino friends through social media.”
