MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Manny Pacquiao said Thursday he would prohibit his relatives from holding government posts if a law on political dynasties is finally in place.

Pacquiao has two brothers in the government: House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Rogelio “Ruel” Pacquiao (Sarangani) and Rep. Alberto “Bobby” Pacquiao (OFW Family party-list).

“Pagbabawalan natin pagka may batas na maipasa na [anti]-dynasty law. Susunod tayo sa batas,” the senator said in an interview on radio DZBB.

(We will prohibit them from seeking government positions. We will follow the law.).

Pacquiao also said he will include banning political dynasties in his agenda if Filipinos want it.

“If that is want the majority wants, why not?” he said.

There is no law in the country banning political dynasties. Proposed measures on the matter have languished in Congress.

Pacquiao also said he has yet to talk to his younger brother Ruel who reportedly expressed support for the vice presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Pacquiao is running for president alongside Rep. Lito Atienza (Buhay party-list).
