MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the validity of student permits, as well as licenses of drivers and conductors, for some individuals until March 31.
The extension shall be valid for persons aged 17 to 20 years old, as well as individuals aged 60 and above.
The student permit and driver’s and conductor’s licenses of these age groups will be extended as they were required to remain in their residences during the pandemic quarantine period.
Under Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Resolution No. 79, individuals aged 15 to 20 years old, as well as individuals older than 60, may only go out of their homes for essential travel.
This is the third time that the LTO has extended the validity of some of its issued licenses due to the uncertainty of prolonged restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In May last year, the LTO said that it will extend the validity of licenses, permits and motor vehicle registrations under its jurisdiction up to 60 days after the resumption of work.
The LTO in October again extended the validity of these licenses until Dec. 31 due to the pandemic.
