MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) yesterday said it has received 58,412 or 68 percent of election returns (ERs).

The ERs would be compared with the data transmitted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency server to determine if there was dagdag-bawas (vote padding and vote shaving), the poll watchdog said.

Based on PPCRV’s records as of 1:45 p.m. yesterday, they expected to receive the remaining 27,357 or 32 percent of the ERs.

Even after the Comelec proclaimed the 12 winning senators and party-list groups, PPCRV executive director Maribel Buenaobra said they are continuing to work at the PPCRV Command Center in Manila.

“The validation of pre-transmission ERs against the electronically transmitted ERs is significant to show whether there are discrepancies, if any, between the two,” Buenaobra added.

Random audit

A total of 262 ballot boxes have undergone random manual audit (RMA) of votes, according to Comelec Commissioner Luie Tito Guia.

Guia also said the ballot boxes, randomly selected by the poll body, were audited yesterday, the ninth day of the RMA.

Over 36 percent of the 715 ballot boxes have been audited by 60 RMA teams, each composed of three teachers.

The RMA teams checked if the votes made on the ballots through shading matched the results on the voter-receipts and on election returns that were printed by the vote-counting machines.

The clustered precincts are represented by ballot boxes containing between 600 and 800 accomplished ballots. – With Ghio Ong
