MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit Eastern Samar on Tuesday afternoon.
The tremor was initially reported at magnitude 6.2 but the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology Institute upgraded the magnitude to 6.5.
The quake’s epicenter was in San Julian Eastern Samar which also recorded Intensity 6 or “very strong” ground shaking.
This occurred a day after a magnitude 6.1 quake jolted some parts of Luzon.
Meanwhile, nearby provinces of Eastern Samar including Leyte, Bacolod, Masbate, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Surigao del Sur, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Cebu felt the tremor at various intensities.
