No work in government offices on April 23
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang announced the suspension of work in government offices in the National Capital Region Tuesday following a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck parts of Luzon the day before.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said the suspension was made upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to ease up the load of public transport system in the region.
The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has suspended work in all courts in Metro Manila and Central Luzon on Tuesday.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also announced that its consular officers in San Fernando (SM San Fernando) and Angeles (Marquee Mall) in Pampanga are closed for today.
The following DFA consular offices in Metro Manila are also closed: DFA Aseana, DFA CO (Alabang Town Center), DFA CO West (SM Manila), DFA CO Central (Robinsons Galleria), DFA CO East (SM Megamall), DFA CO Northeast (Ali Mall) and DFA CO North (Robinsons Novaliches).
"Applicants with confirmed appointments today may go instead from 24 April to 10 May 2019. Kindly bring your confirmed appointment packets, including your e-receipts," the DFA said in an advisory.
The DFA said passport and authentication services will resume Wednesday.
On the other hand, all train operations — LRT-1, LRT-2, MRT-3 and PNR resumed operations as of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Operations were suspended last Monday in the aftermath of the earthquake. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
