MANILA, Philippines — Some residents displaced by the months-long siege of Marawi City returned home to new homes, with President Duterte witnessing the turnover last month.
The one-hectare housing complex Bahay Pag-asa Phase II in Barangay Mipaga, Marawi City will have 60 single detached, 23.76-sq.m. housing units, complete with kitchen, toilet and bath facilities.
The complex is equipped with its own water storage facilities, electric power connections, a community center with a 50-inch television, volleyball and basketball court, parking lot, children’s playroom and learning center and a “Hardin ng Lunas” with vegetable and herbal plants.
Joining the President during the inauguration were Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.
The housing complex was completed and made possible by the Chinese Filipino Business Club Inc. officers, with a major contribution from its director Amb. Carlos Chan and in collaboration with the Tarlac Heritage Foundation and the different divisions and brigades of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
