MANILA, Philippines — “Seklusyon” and “Sunday Beauty Queen” emerged as the top winners at the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
“Seklusyon” bagged the most number of awards. It won best screenplay, best cinematography, best sound design, best production design and best original theme song, among others.
The film's director, Erik Matti, won back to back best film director after bagging the same award last year for his film “Honor thy Father.” “Seklusyon” cast member, Phoebe Walker, was also named best supporting actress.
On the other hand, “Sunday Beauty Queen” — the first documentary film to be shown at the MMFF — was awarded the best picture. It also earned best editing and festival’s children’s choice awards.
Internationally acclaimed actor Paolo Ballesteros meanwhile was named best actor for “Die Beautiful” while Irma Adlawan of “Oro” won best actress.
The 42nd MMFF Gabi ng Parangal was held Thursday evening at the Kia Theater.
