Appointments, reappointments of governmet execs sent to CA

MANILA, Philippines - The appointments of ambassadors, an audit commissioner and military officials and the reappointment of elections, energy and civil service officials have been sent to the Commission on Appointments (CA) for confirmation.

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. transmitted the appointments and reappointments to the CA last week.

Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose, who holds the rank of assistant secretary, was appointed ambassador to Malaysia.

Celia Anna Feria was appointed as ambassador to Spain, while Uriel Norman Garibay was named ambassador to Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles and Somalia. Garibay was also nominated as permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Program and to the UN Human Settlements Program.

Also appointed was Denis Lepatan as ambassador to Norway with concurrent jurisdiction over Iceland, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Lilybeth Deapera was appointed as ambassador to Chile with concurrent jurisdiction over Peru and Ecuador.

Meanwhile, Isabel Dasalla Agito was appointed as commissioner of the Commission on Audit.

For the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the President has notified the CA about the promotions of Romeo Tanalgo to lieutenant general; Noel Clement and Ronnie Evangelista to brigadier general; Jonathan Gabor to colonel and Aldrin Doctor to captain.

The President also appointed Benjamin Madrigal Jr. as major general, Nelia Valmonte as brigadier general and Raul Hernandez as colonel.

The President has reappointed Energy Secretary Zenaida Monsada, Commissioner Sheriff Abas of the Commission on Elections and Commissioner Nieves Osorio of the Civil Service Commission.

The new appointments of the three officials were dated Dec. 18, 2015, the day Congress adjourned its session for its month-long Christmas recess.
