2 more hurt by stray bullets

MANILA, Philippines – Two people were hit by stray bullets on Christmas Day, police reported yesterday.

Ligtas Paskuhan 2015 of the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded two incidents in Manila and General Trias in Cavite on Christmas Day.

There were at least seven victims of stray bullets since Dec. 16.

Police said Ronald Zablan Paguinto, a 21-year-old student, was hit in the back at Aguinaldo House along Rizal Park, Ermita while Ryan Aspa, 32, was hit in his ankle at the Riverside Tropical Village Pabahay, San Francisco, General Trias.

The names of Paguinto and Aspa were not included in the first five victims of stray bullets reported in the media yesterday.

The Department of Health (DOH), on the other hand, recorded a 34-year-old man from Bayambang, Pangasinan was hit in the left thigh by a stray bullet while 30 others were injured from firecrackers.

The PNP recorded the first five stray bullet victims as Calsum Henio from Zamboanga del Norte; Hawati Asakil Hanapi from Zamboanga City; Cornelio Mendoza Grita and Erlina Alob in Sariaya, Quezon and Danilo Carpio from Bayambang, Pangasinan. – With Sheila Crisostomo, Ghio Ong
