DOLE to launch online job interview next year
MANILA, Philippines - The government is promoting online job interviews to deal with the high unemployment rate.
Starting next year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be offering free services allowing employers to conduct job interviews online, Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said.
The DOLE has forged a memorandum of understanding with BPO-Career Hub (BCH) for the implementation of the government’s new job facilitation services, she added.
The online job interview will be launched during the 2016 nationwide Labor Day job fair, Baldoz said.
The project is meant to expand the reach of the DOLE’s job search site, she added.
Jobseekers from far-flung areas will benefit from the new web-based service since they have difficulty going to designated venues of job fairs, Baldoz said.
“This will give more Filipinos an expanded access to employment opportunities, especially to those residing in non-strategic locations,” she said. “They will no longer have any reason not to participate.”
Baldoz hopes that more jobseekers nationwide will avail themselves of the modern and innovative technology to shorten the job search.
Under the agreement with BCH, DOLE will conduct a study to trace the employment outcome and career path of graduates in some selected higher education institutions, Baldoz said.
Results of the study will enable the government to get timely and accurate information on jobs available in the market, she added.
BCH will assist DOLE in improving its career guide pamphlet for students who would like go into the IT-BPO industry.
DOLE will provide BCH access to its Skills Registry System database on a monthly basis and promote it through the job search website.
