Singaporean PM sets foot in Manila for APEC

MANILA, Philippines – After attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Turkey, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Wednesday morning to attend the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting.

Lee, the third prime minister of Singapore, landed at the airport around 10 a.m. He was accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.

The Singaporean prime minister is expected to conduct bilateral meetings with other leaders at the margins of APEC.

Lee is the eldest son of Singapore’s first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew. He has been the Singapore’s prime minister since August 2004, after succeeding Goh Chok Tong.

He is expected to leave on Thursday.
