MANILA, Philippines - Tropical storm Lando (international name Koppu) continues to weaken as it moves towards Calayan and Babuyan group of islands.
In its 11 p.m. advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA said that at 10:00 p.m. Monday, the center of Tropical Storm Lando was estimated at 95 km northwest of Calayan, Cagayan.
Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 500 km diameter of the tropical storm, PAGASA added.
Lando packs maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. The storm is forecast to move northeast at 6 kph.
Areas under Public Storm Warning Signal 2 are Batanes and Northern Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands.
Meanwhile, areas under Public Storm Warning Signal 1 are Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga and the rest of Cagayan.
Public storm warning signal elsewhere is now lowered.
PAGASA alerted residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with public storm warning signal against possible flashfloods and landslides.
