MANILA, Philippines - Liberal Party presidential candidate Manuel Roxas II said he would not ride on the disqualification cases against Sen. Grace Poe, who has rejected his offer to be his running mate.
Roxas said he would focus on issues and programs rather than intrigues.
“We are for the facts. We are for the actual and the truth. After all these intrigues, the truth will always come out. I’m sure Sen. Grace will be able to answer it,” the LP standard bearer said.
“Whatever their answer is, there is a process for that. But we won’t intervene or ride on any of it,” he added.
Roxas said there was presumption of regularity when he convinced Poe to run for vice president under the administration coalition.
“Sen. Grace Poe was part of Team PNoy in 2013 so we presume regularity. Nobody complained (about her citizenship) then,” Roxas said, referring to the midterm senatorial polls.
“Now that there are complaints, I think it would be better to answer them directly,” he added. – with a report from L. Mora
