MANILA, Philippines - Commissioner on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza on Tuesday has been appointed as the undersecretary-general of the United Nations (UN) Office of Internal Oversight Services.
Following consultations with chairs of regional groups, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed his intent before the general assembly to appoint Mendoza for a five-year non-renewable term.
Last March, the UN appointed Mendoza as the external auditor of the International Labor Organization.
She is also the external auditor of the Food and Agriculture Organization and World Health Organization.
Mendoza is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of service government, specializing in audit, investigation, fraud examination, anti-corruption and integrity advocacy, according to the UN.
