LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines – This town broke two world records for the most number of people simultaneously taking a shower and the largest shower area.

The World Record Shower Fest, which was organized by the municipal government, drew 373 bathers.

The number is 42 more than the shower participants of 331 people in Crawfordsville, Indiana, which earned the Guinness world record last June.

Among the participants in the shower event were the aspirants in the Binibining Laguna and Ginoong Laguna and students of the Laguna State Polytechnic University and University of the Philippines in Los Baños.

A four-year-old boy was the youngest participant and a 68-year-old woman, the oldest.

The shower area at the General Paciano Rizal Park was 394 square meters, bigger than the 372-square-meter Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Gurnee, Illinois, which bagged the Guinness world record in 2009.

Representatives of the Guinness World Records witnessed the event.

The shower fest was among the highlights of the commemoration of this town’s 400th anniversary. The quadri-centennial celebration dubbed “Los Baños Bañamos Festival 2015,” which started on Sept. 14, will end today.

“The shower fest aims to put Los Baños in the Guinness World Records as a strategy to create and attract global attention to the town’s 400th founding anniversary celebration and the 14th year of its signature festival Bañamos,” said festival director Robby Cereno.

Originally named Mainit (hot) and Visita (chapel) of Bay, Laguna’s provincial capital in 1688, Los Baños became a town on Sept. 17, 1615. Los Baños is Spanish for the baths.
