MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front cannot release to the Department of Justice its findings on the Mamasapano raid that left 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos dead, MILF chief Al-Haj Murad told Justice Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday.
The two met at Camp Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao to discuss the Mamasapano incident, which has shaken the peace process.
De Lima asked for a copy of the findings of the MILF’s Special Investigative Commission on the Jan. 25 clash between the SAF commandos and MILF rebels.
Murad told De Lima that the report would be channeled through the Malaysian government, the facilitator of the government-MILF peace efforts.
Murad said it is Malaysia that would transmit the report to the government, based on communication protocols set by the peace panels of the MILF and the government.
Murad, however, said the group they tasked to investigate has not yet completed its official findings on the incident.
