Jolo Revilla asks 30-day leave from work

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - After being discharged from the hospital, Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla has requested for a 30-day leave from the provincial government, his spokesman said.

Lawyer Raymond Fortun said Revilla has asked for the leave to give him time to recover from his injuries.

"He has for a 30-day leave from the province of Cavite after which, he is expected to report back to work barring any further complications from his injuries," Fortun said in a statement.

With the doctors consent, Fortun said the Revilla family decided to discharge the vice governor from the hospital to "speed up" his recovery.

"VG Jolo Revilla is currently under the care of his mom Cong. Lani Mercado," Fortun added.

Fortun said the Revilla clan is grateful to the Sandiganbayan for allowing Jolo's father, detained Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. to visit him at the hospital.

"That visit lifted up Jolo's spirits, which led to a marked improvement in his disposition that very night," Fortun said.

The elder Revilla has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City for plunder and graft cases before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the P10-billion pork barrel scam.
