1 dead, 19 hurt in Bilibid blast

MANILA, Philippines - An inmate was killed while 19 others were injured after an explosion rocked the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City Thursday morning.
Radio reports said that the blast happened at the gate of Building 5-B of the maximum security compound.
It said that inmate Jojo Sampo, a member of Commando gang, died during the explosion.
Meanwhile, reports said that two of the 19 injured inmates, most of whom are members of Commando, are in critical condition.
Initial investigation showed that a MK-2 fragmentation grenade was lobbed by an inmate intended to kill JB Sebastian, leader of the Commando gang.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
