Gov't employees to receive P5,000 one-time bonus
MANILA, Philippines - Government employees will be receiving a one-time bonus worth P5,000 for this year.
“We will be providing our employees the PEI (Productivity Enhancement Incentive) worth P5,000 as recognition of their efforts and consistent showing this year. We also hope to motivate them further to increase their efficiency and overall performance as we collectively continue pursuing our socioeconomic development goals,” Department of Budget and Management Secretary Florencio "Butch" Abad said.
Around 1.4 million government employees nationwide will be granted a maximum PEI of P5,000.
Aside from the PEI, government employees are also to receive a year-end bonus equivalent to a month's pay and the additional P5,000 cash gift from the DBM across-the-board.
All government employees in active service as of October 31 and have been of service for at least four months are entitled to the PEI. Employees who have rendered less than four months of service will receive a pro-rated PEI.
“The PEI will help our employees in terms of their expenses now that the holiday season is already upon us. At the same time, we also hope to remind our personnel that their contributions and commitment to the country are well acknowledged and counted upon as we continue to respond to the needs of the Filipino people,” Abad said.
The PEI for national government agencies will be charged from the miscellaneous personnel benefits fund under this year's budget.
Meanwhile, government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions will source the fund from their respective corporate operating budgets, according to DBM.
Employees of local government units are also entitled to the PEI, which will be sourced from the available funds of their respective units.
