4 more Filipino peacekeepers from Ebola-hit country quarantined

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Four Filipino peacekeepers, who just arrived in the country from Liberia, have been placed on quarantine at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC), a military spokesperson said Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc said the soldiers were immediately escorted to the AFP medical facility in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, when they arrived on a commercial flight last November 22 around 11 p.m.

"The decision to let them undergo the quarantine at the AFPMC is based on the guidance from the DOH (Department of Health)," Cabunoc said in a statement.

"They travelled through commercial plane after passing the Ebola screening test and for being declared as "no risk" personnel. The DOH can discuss further details about their quarantine procedures and duration," he added.

Earlier, around 133 Filipino United Nation peacekeepers have been quarantined on Caballo Island until they have been tested negative for the Ebola virus.
