Del Rosario richest Cabinet member; Luistro, Dinky poorest

MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario remains the richest member of President Aquino's Cabinet, based on his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).

According to his SALN for 2013, Del Rosario has a total net worth of P765,379,281 in 2013, topping the list of wealthiest secretaries in the administration. His wealth grew by P65 million from 2012.

A successful businessman, Del Rosario has been known to give away part of his salary received from the government to his staff.

At the bottom of the list is Education Secretary Armin Luistro with only P433,392, down from his P550,651 net worth the year before.

Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, a former advertising executive, is the second wealthiest, followed by Finance Secretary Alan Purisima.

Social Welfare Secretary Corazon "Dinky" Soliman is the second poorest Cabinet member by the end of 2013.

Like Del Rosario, some of the richest Cabinet chiefs such as Almendras and Purisima started their careers in business.
