PNP trending for comic response on Twitter

MANILA, Philippines - They may appear tough and sometimes even formidable, but policemen, it turns out, also have a sense of humor.

The Philippine National Police (PNP)’s official Twitter account @PNPhotline has been trending these days, not because people are in dire need of assistance, but rather because of the often amusing exchanges and answers to even the silliest questions and information posted by netizens.

A tweet asked @PNPhotline if Kuya in Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), ABS-CBN’s reality show, could be held liable for illegal detention since several individuals are kept inside the PBB house for 100 days.

In its reply, @PNPhotline said, “Kung may magreklamo po (If someone will file a complaint).”

Meanwhile, MangKikoMatsi0ng @_t0ska asked, “Kunyare holdap, hingi ka ransom (Assuming I held you up, will you ask for a ransom)?”

@PNPhotline replied, “Kunyare din po hulihin ko kayo (Let’s assume I will arrest you too.)”

Other examples of tweet exchanges were:

@xnarriaaa: “@mjeeemuel_18: @xnarriaaa holdap tayo ng bangko bago tayo magkaroon ng ganyang kalaking pera (Let us rob a bank first before we get hold of that huge amount of money.)””

The PNPhotline retorted, “5:35pm na po sarado na po bank (It’s 5:30 p.m., the bank is closed.)”

@Mang_INASAR asked: “Ba’t po kulay itim ang batuta ng pulis (Why is the policeman’s truncheon black?)”

The PNPhotline said, “The robbers won’t be afraid if we use pink sticks in going after them.”

@vandolph08 asked, “Totoo ba na mas mahal ng mga lalaki ang kabit kesa sa legal wife (Is it true that men love their mistresses more then their wives?)” to which the PNP replied, “Di po ako si Dr. Love (I am not Dr. Love).”

Another tweet from @keveenbueno, accompanied by a photo of a man sniffing laundry powder, asked, “Legal po ba ang paggamit nito (Is it legal to use this)?”

“If it will be used for laundry, yes,” answered the PNP hotline.

Even the beer belly of some policemen was picked on by netizens.
