MANILA, Philippines - The Airline Operators Council (AOC) based at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 wants the terminal fee reduced, noting that passengers are not getting the full services they deserve due to the ongoing upgrade of the airport’s facilities.
Onnie Nakpil, AOC head, said the rehabilitation work at NAIA 1 has affected passenger services.
Nakpil said airline companies at NAIA 1 were deluged with complaints from both departing and arriving passengers.
Among these complaints were the lack of water and the excessive heat due to poor air-conditioning system, which was affected by the upgrade.
Some airline companies, including Air France and KLM, were obliged to distribute drinking water to their passengers.
Nakpil said they would ask the Manila International Airport Authority, headed by Jose Angel Honrado, to reduce the terminal fee from P550 to P300.
The old rate will be imposed again once the P1.16-billion rehabilitation work is completed, which is scheduled for January next year.
