MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima visited and talked with businesswoman Janet Napoles at the Ospital ng Makati, late Monday night.
According to a radio dzMM report, De Lima arrived around 11 p.m. at the Osmak where Napoles, the alleged brains behind the P10 billion pork barrel scam, was about to have an operation for her medical condition.
The justice secretary left the hospital around 3 a.m. Tuesday, the report added.
Earlier, De Lima said she prefers Napoles to turn state witness on the pork barrel case over lawyer Gigi Reyes, former chief of staff of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
Reyes recently returned to the country after her eight-month stay in the US to answer the accusations against her.
Reyes allegedly served as the conduit between Enrile and Napoles regarding the senator's Priority Development Assistance Fund.
