MANILA, Philippines — A former employee of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed criminal and administrative complaints against Commissioner Kim Henares before the Office of the Ombudsman.

According to a radio report on Wednesday, the complaint was lodged by former Revenue Officer 2 Othello Dalanan.

Dalanon claimed that Henares did not collect P1.56 billion from a company in 2007--an amount which reflected as deficiencies in tax assessment.

Dalanon, represented by lawyer Stephen Cascolan, said that he left the government in June 2013 due to perceived anomalies in the BIR.

BIR Deputy Commissioner Estela Sales also faces complaints for grave misconduct and gross neglect of duty.

Dalanon also urged the BIR to immediately address the lapses.
