PhlPost has 2 months to deliver equipment for voters’ registration

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has given the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) two months to deliver to the National Capital Region and four other regions all forms and equipment needed for voter registration set this May.

The Comelec tapped the logistics capability of PHLPost to deliver registration forms, supplies and equipment needed for the registration of voters for a period of two months, from March 1 to April 30.

PHLPost Postmaster General and CEO Josie de la Cruz and Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes inked a three-page memorandum of understanding extending the effectivity of the memorandum of agreement signed last year for the barangay elections in connection with the resumption of registration of voters through a continuing system of registration under Republic Act No. 8189.

Under the memorandum of understanding, it was agreed that PHLPost would pick up the cargo from the Comelec Warehouse at the Surface Mail Exchange Department in Port Area, Manila during office hours or upon instruction by the Packing and Shipping Committee.

The forms and paraphernalia would be brought to NCR, Central Luzon region, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga peninsula.

PHLPost stands to earn P2,405,460.18 from these delivery transactions.

“With PHLPost’s about 1,500 post offices covering most of the country, we can assure you the delivery of all the election-related paraphernalia ensuring a better vote casting for the Filipinos,” De la Cruz said in a statement.
