Fortun says wife to undergo procedure
MANILA, Philippines - Lawyer Raymond Fortun on Friday said his wife Caroline is doing fine and will undergo a minor procedure to clean and cauterize her wounds.
Fortun added that Caroline, 43, is now stable at the Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Pinas City after being shot in the face at close range.
"She is doing well. No damage to major organs," Fortun said in a text message.
Fortun said the caliber of the gun used in his wife's shooting has yet to be determined as police investigators have to find the bullet that hit his wife at the right cheek and exited at the nape.
According to the Southern Police District, Caroline had just arrived at their house in BF Homes, in Almanza, Las Piñas at about 8:05 p.m. from serving at a Mass at the Holy Trinity Church and was parking her black Mitsubishi Lancer (POR-394) when two suspects approached her from behind.
Police said one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Caroline at close-range. After the shooting, the suspects fled from the scene aboard a motorcycle.
Fortun is the lawyer of Mariane Cayton, the owner of the Serendra condominium unit which was destroyed by an explosion caused by a gas leak.
