Palanca Awards fetes winners of literary tilt
MANILA, Philippines - Continuing its tradition of promoting Filipino cultural heritage through literary excellence, the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature last Sunday honored authors of winning entries in this year’s competition during its annual ceremony at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.
Now in its 63rd year, the prestigious Palanca Awards received over 1,100 literary entries for its various categories.
Of the number, judges selected 58 winning entries which will be accessible to other writers, students, and fellow literature enthusiasts through the Palanca Awards official website, www.palancaawards.com.ph and the Palanca Awards Research Facility.
The grand prize award in Filipino division went to Eros Sanchez Atalia for his novel “Tatlong Gabi, Tatlong Araw,†while Jose Elvin Bueno got the top prize in the English division for his novel “Subversivo, Inc.â€
The Palanca Awards is organized and hosted by the Carlos Palanca Foundation as part of its commitment to develop Philippine literature by providing incentives for writers to craft their most outstanding literary works.
