3 police chiefs sacked over ‘doctored’ blotters

MANILA, Philippines - Three police chiefs from Bicol were relieved for allegedly “doctoring” police blotters to make it appear their commands were effective in addressing and solving crimes in their areas of jurisdiction.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima said the relief was in line with his administration’s “serbisyong makatotohanan” (true service) program.

Purisima refused to disclose the names of the police officials pending further investigation.

He said he has been pushing measures under the CODE-P (Competence, Organization Development, Discipline, Excellence and Professionalism) campaign of his administration.

He said the program aims to establish a credible, efficient, effective and capable police force in accordance with the integrated transformation program Patrol 2030.

“We have been working hard to enhance the competence of every policeman, undertake some organizational development reforms; instill discipline within the ranks; promote excellence in the performance of our duties, and institute professionalism at all levels of the organization,” Purisima said.
