MANILA, Philippines - Four Philippine hotels made it to the top 500 hotels for 2013 by New York-based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
The Discovery Shores in Boracay, Edsa Shangri-La, Makati Shangri-La and The Peninsula Manila were listed as among the best hotels in the world.
Discovery Shores was also named the top island hotel in Asia with a score of 96.77.
It has been consistently in the T+L World’s Best Awards list of Top Resorts in Asia for three years now.
Makati Shangri-La got a rating of 88.97 while The Peninsula Manila got a score of 88.
EDSA Shangri-La, which was included in the list for the first time, also received a rating of 88.
The travel magazine also cited the hotel’s The Bakeshop for its signature ensaymada, “a butter- and sugar-filled pastry that’s a favorite dessert of locals too.”
T+L named the Singita Grumeti Reserves in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania as the top hotel overall, while the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, India was cited as the top hotel in Asia.
The 500 list ranks hotels and resorts all over the world based on the magazine’s survey among readers for the Travel + Leisure 2012 World’s Best Awards.
