The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - SM Investments Corp., through the Philippine Red Cross, has donated P10 million for the victims of typhoon “Pablo” in Mindanao.

The cash donation is in addition to the numerous assistance and projects extended by SMIC in the affected areas in the south.

PRC chairman Richard Gordon and PRC governor Miguel Zubiri received the donation from SMIC chief finance officer Jose Sio at the PRC headquarters in Intramuros, Manila last Wednesday.

Connie Angeles, executive director of the SM Foundation’s health and medical programs, and PRC secretary-general Gwendolyn Pang witnessed the turnover.

The Metrobank Foundation Inc., the corporate social responsibility arm of the Metrobank Group and GT Foundation, has turned over P5 million in calamity assistance to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, PRC and six other organizations in response to the government’s call to donate to victims of Pablo.

The donation was coursed through the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Operation Damayan of The Philippine STAR, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, ABS-CBN Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation and TV-5 Kapatid Foundation.

Dr. George S.K. Ty, Metrobank Foundation chairman and GT Foundation chairman emeritus, said the donation is his family’s way of showing solidarity with fellow Filipinos badly affected by the onslaught of Pablo.
