MANILA, Philippines - The 1 Utak Party-list group will appeal to the Supreme Court its disqualification by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Lawyer Vigor Mendoza, 1 Utak chairman told The STAR that the Comelec has no basis to disqualify the group for “lack of track record” because it has been active in the House of Representatives.
He said the party has filed 30 bills and resolutions. He said the group has also distributed thousands of PhilHealth cards to its members and those in the transport sector.
“We have more than 200 scholars and we have funded 80 hospitals across the country,” Mendoza said.
He said they have also filed cases against the oil deregulation law as well as questioned local ordinances and cases of abuse by the government.
“We will bring this case to the Supreme Court. Let’s keep the fight alive. What will not destroy us will only make us strong,” Mendoza said.
