MANILA, Philippines - The number of dengue cases being reported to the Department of Health (DOH) is declining, but overall data showed the incidence of the disease is still higher than last year’s, the Dengue Surveillance Report (DSR) showed yesterday.
There were 25,739 and 16,859 dengue cases recorded in various hospitals nationwide in July and August, respectively. The graphs also showed a downward trend in cases on a weekly basis.
Overall figures, however, showed there were 95,142 cases from Jan. 1 to Sept. 1, which is 12.94 percent higher than the 84,244 cases recorded during the same period last year.
In 2011, a total of 119,999 individuals had contracted the mosquito-borne disease.
