MANILA, Philippines - Choosing the position that best fits your qualification is the key in finding the right job out of the 100,000 offers available on Labor Day, a labor official said yesterday.
“There will be thousands of jobs that would be available, 100,000 of them at the World Trade Center event, (so) choose the position that best fits your qualification from the vacancies listing that would be made available at the fair,” Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said over the weekend.
Baldoz added that jobseekers should be ready to present the necessary documents required by employers.
“Whether you are going at the World Trade Center or to another job fair in a particular city or province, have your application documents ready as job opportunities in ‘key employment generator’ industries will be abundantly available at the job fairs on May 1,” Baldoz disclosed.
Through the nationwide Labor Day Job and Livelihood Fair, DOLE hopes to fast-track the matching of jobseekers and employers, particularly in identified areas where skills are highly in demand or available through the conduct of Job and Livelihood Fairs.
Among the documents the jobseekers must present are resume or curriculum vitae; 2 x 2 ID pictures (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); certificate of employment (for those formerly employed); diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.
Meanwhile, new jobseekers are required to fill registration forms provided at the job fairs or pre-register online through the PhilJob.net website or manually through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in their locality before May 1.
Applicants seeking training assistance, on the other hand, may proceed to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) booth for interview and scheduling, while self-employment assistance are available at the self-employment and livelihood booth.
