On top of its game, Pilipino Star Ngayon turns 26
MANILA, Philippines - Despite stiff competition, Pilipino Star Ngayon (PSN) has, over the years, become a leader in the tabloid market in more ways than one. Two of the most compelling reasons for its dominance are its circulation as well as advertising performance.
Currently one of the top two tabloids in the country, PSN also leads all tabloids in advertising with a dominant 32.18 percent share (display and classified ads) in a five-way tabloid market.
This means that PSN, The Philippine STAR’s sister publication, has established an edge in credibility and popularity among readers to gain prominence as a reliable advertising medium.
“We wish to thank our agents and the hardworking news vendors who help us distribute PSN all over the country,” Miguel Belmonte, Pilipino Star Ngayon president, declared.
In fact, with its distribution in key OFW markets and vast exposure on the Internet through philstar.com, Pilipino Star Ngayon has become a household name not just in the Philippines but overseas as well.
“The response is overwhelming. When advertisers ask callers or customers how they learned about a product, the typical response is that they saw it in PSN,” says PSN advertising manager Jun Aluad.
Aside from its web presence and international distribution, PSN is officially the first local tabloid, together with its sister tabloid Pang-Masa, or PM, to have an app (please search iTunes for Pilipino Star Ngayon or Pang-Masa). The free apps enable the STAR tabloids to better reach readers outside the Philippines.
“Our OFWs don’t have to look for our newspapers in the newsstands anymore,” says Al G. Pedroche, editor-in-chief of the two papers. “They can be updated, no matter where they are. They can even share, save, and post the pages and even the entire tabloid in networking sites.”
Al has high expectations about PSN and PM’s free app.
“I’m sure thousands of our homesick OFWs will be happy with this offering,” he adds.
The main reason for PSN’s leadership is content. The tabloid and PM are a source of fresh, reliable news. The articles and columns are wholesome and never obscene.
As its way of thanking loyal readers, PSN and PM are holding the “Magbasa at Manalo ng Pera Linggo-Linggo” promo.
The five-month promo, which kicked off last March 15, is giving away P1,000 cash to 15 lucky winners in a weekly raffle draw. The more entries sent, the greater one’s chances of winning.
