Abalos complains of stomach ailment

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - Former elections chief Benjamin Abalos complained of difficulty in breathing at past midnight yesterday prompting his son Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos to rush to his father’s detention with a doctor in tow.

Dr. Zaldy Carpeza examined the 77-year-old Abalos who also complained of stomach pains. The elder Abalos is also suffering from gastric ulcer. Southern Police District doctor Jackilyn Honrado did a follow up check on Abalos yesterday afternoon and declared him to be doing fine.

Judge Jesus Mupas of the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112, who is hearing Abalos’ electoral sabotage case, will have to decide on the request, according to Castro.

The former poll chief is detained in the SPD’s anti criminality unit. A source told The STAR that an iron door secures Abalos’ makeshift detention room. SPD spokesperson Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson declined to confirm or deny the information.
