MMDA suspends number coding
MANILA, Philippines - The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme will be suspended from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.
According to the MMDA, the number coding scheme is being suspended on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 as these days are declared holidays.
The MMDA said the number coding scheme is also being suspended on Nov. 2 for the convenience of motorists who will be returning to Metro Manila from the provinces.
The UVVRP is suspended on weekends and during declared public holidays.
Under the UVVRP, vehicles with license numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed on EDSA and on the major streets of Metro Manila from 7 am to 10 am and again between 3 pm and 7 pm. on Mondays.
Vehicles with license numbers ending in 3 and 4 are covered by the UVVRP on Tuesdays; 5 and 6 Wednesdays; 7 and 8 Thursdays and 9 and 0 Fridays.
Vehicles covered by the UVVRP for that day are, however, given the “window hours” of 10 am to 3 pm to use EDSA and other major thoroughfares such as the C-5 Road, Roxas Boulevard and the Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, regardless of the cities covered.
The MMDA, however, reminded motorists that there are no “window hours” in Makati City, Malabon City and Las Piñas City.
The cities of Marikina, Muntinlupa, Taguig and Parañaque do not implement the UVVRP while Pasig City has window hours from 9 am to 4 pm.
In Pasay City, the UVVRP is not implemented along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, MIA Road, the Domestic Road, Sales Road and portions of Buendia Avenue.
