Michael Ray flown in today
MANILA, Philippines - Michael Ray Aquino, one of the suspects in the murders of Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito, is scheduled to arrive today after being extradited from the United States.
Philippine Airlines flight PR 103 from Los Angeles, California carrying the former police official and his escorts from the National Bureau of Investigation is expected to touch down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at around 4 am.
A US court granted the request of the Philippine government for
the extradition of Aquino in connection with the double murder case. Judge Esther Salas of the US District Court in New Jersey junked his plea to stop his extradition.
Aquino and another police official, Cesar Mancao, fled to the US after the murders allegedly upon the instruction of their former superior in the police force Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
Lacson himself went into hiding last year even before the issuance of a warrant for his arrest for his alleged role in the murders.
NBI Foreign Liaison Office Claro de Castro Jr. and NBI-Airport Division head agent Jesus Manapat arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport at 7:53 p.m. Monday (US time) to fetch Aquino.
De Castro said Aquino would be brought to the NBI headquarters from the NAIA.
