Halili's lawyer appeals ruling on sex video case

MANILA, Philippines - The lawyer of actress Katrina Halili yesterday appealed the decision of the Pasig City regional trial court in dismissing the sex video case against Dr. Hayden Kho.

Raymund Palad filed the petition on behalf of Halili before the Court of Appeals, claiming there had been serious errors of fact in the ruling last Tuesday.

Palad said they decided to appeal the decision before the CA instead of filing a motion for reconsideration, claiming Pasig City regional trial court judge Rodolfo Bonifacio would no longer rule in favor of Halili.

The court dismissed the case against Kho for insufficient evidence. It also dismissed the P100-million civil damages claim by Halili for lack of merit.

Kho was accused of violating Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act for allegedly videotaping his intimate moments with the actress and uploading them on the Internet.

Halili claimed she was not aware that her sexual encounters with Kho were being videotaped.
